Creative Freelancer Conference 2009

Creative Freelancer Conference presentation

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Creative Freelancer Conference in sunny San Diego. I can safely say it was more than worth the price of admission. I found out how little I was doing in the way of marketing to grow my business, as well as received some positive reinforcement on the things I have been doing right.

Probably more important than that was all of the great people that I met through the conference. It was refreshing to see so many other creatives in various stages of their independent career. The conference structure allowed everyone to mingle and get to know each other without the typical “Should I give them my card? Am I talking too much? What if they don’t like me? AUUUUGH!!” inner monologue that can plague a person at a networking event.

There was quite a bit more that happened while I was in San Diego (FYI- Stone Brewing is AWESOME), but I’m too excited to put it all in blog form. Needless to say, I recommend the 2010 Creative Freelancer Conference to any small business owner because, after all, aren’t all entrepreneurs inherently “creative”?

Here are a few interesting people and links from the conference:

Almost every one of them has a free blog, podcast, Twitter account, PDFs or some combination of them all. I recommend following them all and basking in their free advice!
